Kızılelma UAV – BAYKAR
Bayraktar Kızılelma is a UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) developed by Baykar Makina, a Turkish company based in Istanbul. It is primarily used for reconnaissance and surveillance purposes but can also be armed with missiles for offensive operations. The Bayraktar Kızılelma has been used in various conflicts, including the Syrian Civil War and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Bayraktar Kızılelma was developed by Baykar, a Turkish aerospace and defense company founded by Özdemir Bayraktar. The project is led by Selçuk Bayraktar, who serves as the Chairman of the Board and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Baykar. Selçuk Bayraktar is the son of the company’s founder, Özdemir Bayraktar, and has played a key role in the development of Türkiye’s indigenous unmanned aerial vehicle programs, including the Bayraktar TB2, Akıncı, and Kızılelma.
Selçuk Bayraktar graduated from Middle East Technical University (METU) with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He later earned graduate degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), specializing in aerospace and unmanned aircraft technologies. He has been a key figure in the development of Baykar’s indigenous UAV and UCAV systems, including the Bayraktar TB2, Akıncı, and Kızılelma.
Kızılelma is a medium-altitude, long-endurance unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). Some of its specifications include:
